Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The Vaughan Yeomen Rugby Club is a long-standing rugby organization based in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada  dedicated to providing opportunities for men and youth to participate in rugby at competitive and recreational levels. We focus on fostering a strong rugby community through skill development, sportsmanship, and inclusivity.

To become a part of Yeomen Rugby, please visit our Registration page on the website. There, you can sign up for one of our programs, whether you’re a youth player, beginner, or experienced adult looking to join one of our men’s teams.

Rugby is often considered safer than other contact sports due to its emphasis on proper technique, player conditioning, and a strong culture of respect for the game’s rules. In rugby, tackling is taught with a focus on safety, prioritizing wrapping up the opponent rather than aggressive head-on collisions, which helps minimize the risk of head and neck injuries. Unlike sports like American football, where players are equipped with heavy padding and helmets that can encourage more reckless behavior, rugby players wear minimal protective gear, which fosters greater awareness of the risks and promotes safer play. Additionally, rugby has strict regulations on high tackles, dangerous play, and misconduct, with referees enforcing rules to protect players from unnecessary harm. Overall, while rugby does have its risks, its structure and focus on skillful, disciplined play contribute to a relatively safer environment for its participants.

Not at all! Yeomen Rugby welcomes players of all skill levels, including beginners. Our experienced coaches are here to guide you and develop your skills, whether you’re new to the sport or have been playing for years. Obviously for our competitive teams, experience is considered an asset.
