U-18 BOYS TEAM

Hailing from Woodbridge, ON, Barbieri began his rugby journey with the Vaughan Yeomen Rugby Club, quickly discovering his natural talent for the sport. He continued his development as a junior with the Ontario Blues and gained his first professional experience in Italy with Parma, where he played until 2007.

Barbieri and his younger brother, Robert, both debuted for national teams on June 10, 2006. Micheal played for Canada against the England Saxons in the Churchill Cup, while Robert represented Italy.

Following his time in Parma, Barbieri joined Benetton Treviso, where he helped secure the Super Italy Championship in the 2008-2009 season. He later moved to L’Aquila in 2009, retiring from competitive rugby after winning a championship.

Since retiring, Barbieri has returned to Canada, where he was the Head Coach of the men’s program at the Yeomen Rugby Club for several years in the early 2010’s. Additionally, he served as the forwards coach of the Sheridan College men’s rugby team from 2019 to 2023.
